Author Profile | Jan OkeJan grew up in south London and rode the 21 bus to school every morning. Her mum took her to choose books at the local library and her dad made an easel and encouraged her to paint. Her brother tied parachutes to her dolls and threw them out of the bedroom window. Later she worked in central London and lived at a variety of locations, but always on the number 88 Route. Jerry and Jan were together 20 years and had six wonderful children, moving to a house near the sea in East Devon in 1990. Jan has worked as a cartoon film camera operator (in the days before computers), an adventure play-leader, a journalist and a librarian.
Writing Major Glad, Major Dizzy Jan caught the history bug. She graduated from The University of Exeter with a degree in Archaeology and volunteers at the Fairlynch Museum in Budleigh Salterton. Her favourite hobby is reading bedtime stories to her grandchildren. |
